AVCO costing built in

Average-cost (AVCO) valuation updates with every goods receipt. Your balance-sheet stock value and cost-of-sales figures are accurate without you ever touching a spreadsheet.

Real-time stock per product

Stock levels move with every sale, refund, transfer, goods receipt, goods issue and production run — across every product and variant.

Purchase orders & 3-way match

Issue POs to suppliers, record goods receipts (GRN) on delivery, match supplier invoices against the PO and GRN. A simplified SAP MM-style 3-way match.

Goods receipts & goods issues

Record stock arriving from suppliers and stock leaving for customers, samples, write-offs or transfers. Every movement is logged with who, what, when and why.

Reorder alerts

Set a reorder point per product. The dashboard surfaces low-stock items so you raise a PO before you stock out.

Gross margin & valuation reports

See real profit per product line and the live total value of stock on hand. The valuation report ties directly to your balance sheet.

Every movement, end-to-end traceability

AccLedger captures every reason stock moves: a Shopify sale, a manual invoice, a goods receipt from a supplier, a transfer between locations, a write-off, or a finished good rolled out of a production run. The stock movement ledger is your audit trail.

  • Stock movement history per product, per variant, per location
  • Linked back to the source document — invoice, GRN, journal
  • Filter by date range, product, reason or user
  • Period locking prevents retrospective stock edits after year-end

AVCO that actually keeps up

AVCO recalculates the unit cost on every goods receipt. The balance-sheet stock value and the cost of sales hitting your P&L are always in lock-step. No FIFO/LIFO confusion, no period-end manual revaluation.

  • Per-receipt AVCO recalculation
  • Direct link from AVCO unit cost to cost of sales journals
  • Stock valuation report tying to the balance sheet
  • Margin analysis per product using current AVCO

Bill of materials & production runs

For makers and assemblers. Define a BoM per finished good, run a production batch, and AccLedger automatically issues the components from stock and receives the finished goods at the AVCO-rolled cost.

  • BoM with multi-level component tree
  • Production run records labour and overhead alongside materials
  • Component issues posted automatically to cost of sales
  • Finished goods received at calculated unit cost

Built for ecommerce, wholesale and light manufacturing

Whether you ship 100 Shopify orders a day, run a wholesale operation with weekly drops, or assemble products from components — AccLedger covers the full operating model. The same engine powers the Shopify integration's real-time stock sync.

  • Shopify product catalogue sync (orders decrement stock automatically)
  • Wholesale invoicing with batch fulfilment
  • Multi-variant products (size, colour, SKU)
  • Negative-stock guardrails configurable per product

Frequently asked questions

Why AVCO and not FIFO or LIFO?
AVCO (average cost) is the most widely used and HMRC-acceptable valuation method for UK small businesses. It smooths out the impact of cost fluctuations and produces a clean balance sheet without the period-end complexity of FIFO. AccLedger uses AVCO across the board.
Is inventory really included, or is it an add-on?
Inventory management is included on every AccLedger plan that supports it (Limited Company and above) at no extra cost. There is no separate inventory licence fee, no per-product charge, and no third-party app to buy.
How does the 3-way match work?
You raise a purchase order (PO). When the goods arrive, you record a goods receipt note (GRN) confirming what actually came in. When the supplier invoice lands, AccLedger matches the invoice line items against the PO and the GRN, flagging price or quantity discrepancies for your review.
Can I track stock across multiple locations?
Yes. You can record stock movements between warehouses or between a stockroom and a shop floor, with the full audit trail preserved.
What about Shopify orders — do they decrement stock?
Yes. The Shopify integration syncs your product catalogue and decrements stock in AccLedger every time a paid order is placed. Refunds add stock back. Stock movements are logged with the originating Shopify order ID for traceability.
Can I run a manufacturing operation in AccLedger?
For light manufacturing and assembly, yes. Define a bill of materials, run a production batch, and AccLedger handles the component issue and finished-goods receipt at calculated cost. For complex MRP scenarios, AccLedger pairs well with a dedicated MRP system via the SAP integration path.
What reports does AccLedger produce?
Stock valuation report (current AVCO × on-hand quantity), stock movement history, low-stock and reorder report, gross margin per product, and a goods receipt history. All exportable to CSV.
